The Detroit Red Wings are getting a steal at #9 with power centre Rasmussen, a great skater for a 6'6 kid who loves to score and does it a lot.

Michael Rasmussen - Tri-City Americans (WHL)
Position:
C
Born: April 17, 1999  - Surrey, British Columbia, Canada
Height: 6’6"
Weight: 215 lbs.
Shoots: Left
Drafted: 2014 WHL Draft - Round #1 (7th overall) by the Tri-City Americans

Ultra-competitive Michael Rasmussen is a high intensity, skilled power forward who has shown flashes of a potential top 10 pick this season. He has a great combination of power and skill. Rasmussen is a very mobile skater for a kid his size and does a great job of keeping himself separated from the D using his reach. He’s a force to be reckoned with below the goal line – he’s tough to move off the puck and does a great job of making space for himself to make plays from the wing and skate the puck hard to the net. The Surrey, B.C. native plays with a ton of grit and will not let you get the best of him. His natural strength is a very noticeable trait. He’s an above average skater who can take the breakout pass out of his own end and skate hard into the zone making defenceman react. Coming off a successful underage season where he posted 18 goals and 43 points, expectations are high for him this season.

DID YOU KNOW? Rasmussen is off to a hot start this season and in the Americans’ Opening weekend, Rasmussen posted his first WHL (natural) hat trick and added another goal in a game against Spokane 7-4.
